Album was a big project, and a complete movie was unexpected.
💿 Album Xperience ⮕ Hurry Up Tomorrow
Hurry Up Tomorrow was a bit disappointing at first. It looked like the first Trilogy was seeping in a bit. But when I understood the full picture and watched the movie, more things connected.
Basically, in this chapter, he has to end the character. So it has to be a recap of every previous style + new final experiments that should’ve been done. All-in-one albums are a very hard thing to pull off.
A sci-fi epic. 22 tracks of rebirth, legacy, betrayal, and redemption — featuring Lana Del Rey, Travis Scott, Future. By the end, Abel sheds the Weeknd persona, and things fade away!
Track Reviews – YES, all 22 songs reviewed (+4 Bonus Ones)
1. Wake Me Up (feat. Justice) ⮕ MJ Sound + Crazy Switch
2. Cry For Me ⮕ Epic, Sad, Haunting, Unreal Composition
3. I Can’t Fucking Sing ⮕ (skit)
4. São Paulo (feat. Anitta) ⮕ Electrifying hit, instantly the standout one when released as a single
5. Until We’re Skin & Bones ⮕ (Bridge)
6. Baptized In Fear ⮕ Great imagery, haunting, regretting, MOST epic transition of this year
7. Open Hearts ⮕ Very uplifting, MJ sound, brilliant
8. Opening Night ⮕ I like this more than everything. It's so subtle, so good
9. Reflections Laughing (feat. Travis Scott, Florence + The Machine) ⮕ Nice direction + story song
10. Enjoy The Show (feat. Future) ⮕ Happy, introspective — like Guilty Conscience voice
11. Given Up On Me ⮕ My most fav. Metro’s key sequence on this song doesn’t do justice to them. The song is not good to listen to on loop, but good as a piece of music
12. I Can’t Wait To Get There ⮕ Playful voice, happy vibes
13. Timeless (feat. Playboi Carti) ⮕ Live version is so much better than studio
14. Niagara Falls ⮕ My current favourite song
15. Take Me Back To LA ⮕ I don’t vibe hard with this, but everyone else does. Idk
16. Big Sleep (feat. Giorgio Moroder) ⮕ Good experimental song
17. Give Me Mercy ⮕ I love this song
18. Drive ⮕ And this one too — they’re so preachy and hopeful
19. The Abyss (feat. Lana Del Rey) ⮕ Unarguably one of the best songs / highlights on the album — Lana’s part is weird and adds no value
20. Red Terror ⮕ Good imagery song from the perspective of his mom — end part with self/younger self talk is good
21. Without A Warning ⮕ His introspective song, and one of the best ones + switch is everything in the movie
22. Hurry Up Tomorrow ⮕ Hopeful and forward-looking, beautiful song
23. Runaway ⮕ A song to his childhood and his mother’s teachings
24. Society ⮕ Stupid contradictions, in the society, of the society
25. The Abyss (Solo) ⮕ Better than the featuring one
26. Closing Night (with Swedish House Mafia) ⮕ Once more, one of the best songs on the album — still one of my favourites
Overall 10/10 – can’t ask for more things in one album
🎬 Hurry Up Tomorrow Movie Xperience
The movie was weird, and it had to be — but it could’ve been far better than what it turned out to be.
I do like the unfolding of the mind of Abel, and when he was tied up but still so regretful of his decisions, and can’t speak anything, but just accept it as the things are now — broken.
But finally, the Weeknd character has come to an end. And it's good — for him to stop acting out his made-up persona from his bad experiences of life, instead of his real personality.
This movie was not up to the mark. It could’ve been far better. At least it completed the purpose of its important scenes, and that’s beautiful.
Overall 6/10 – Good to experience and ponder on

END OF THE BLOGS
This is my final mention of The Weeknd — at least for now.
I started my portfolio website the same week he announced the Live in São Paulo show, right before the first single dropped. That night, I wrote my first ever blogpost about that unreleased track — Dancing in the Flames.
And now, exactly six months since Hurry Up Tomorrow released, I find myself at another turning point.
As I step into university, I’m also stepping away from this version of my portfolio. It’s time for a clean slate.
A chapter ends. Another begins.
